SPENARD ROAD

This is an MOA funded projectwhose purpose is to reconstruct Spenard Road to Municipality of Anchorage minor arterial standards.  It will enhance safety for drivers, non-motorized users, and transit riders while accommodating traffic up to the year 2028. The project will demonstrate how pedestrian friendly and safe improvements can add vitality and character an area that is designated in Anchorage 2020 as a Town Center.

Landscape improvements include plantings, decorative walls and screens, decorative way finding columns, colored banners, two retail monument signs, transit stop improvements and architectural bollards.  In some cases, improvements will extend out of the Right of Way to business store fronts where the current access conditions are being significantly altered.  In such cases, the connection from the business fronts to the street will be addressed individually. In summary, the landscape improvements will visually bind this portion of the Spenard Town Center together by implementing buildable, artistic elements to the streetscape.
